About Jason

Redefining what's possible.

Jason Barnes is an Atlanta-based drummer, producer, DJ, songwriter, actor, and keynote speaker who has performed across the United States and internationally for over 20 years. In 2012, a workplace accident resulted in the amputation of his right arm below the elbow โ€” and rather than step away from music, Jason rebuilt himself into something entirely new.

Partnering with researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Jason co-developed a robotic drumming prosthetic powered by EMG sensors and machine learning, setting a Guinness World Record in 2014 for the most drumbeats per minute with a prosthetic limb. His story has been featured in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The Guardian, Amplitude Magazine, and the YouTube Originals documentary series Age of A.I. hosted by Robert Downey Jr. He has performed and spoken alongside world-class artists, academics, and technology leaders, and has headlined stages from Atlanta to Los Angeles. Beyond performance, Jason is the founder of the Limitless Sound Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit providing adaptive instruments and studio access to musicians with disabilities.
